Welcome and Announcements
By: Philip P.
Greetings, readers.
If Emperor Caligula had had his way, I would be welcoming you to the Germanicus issue of Terrouge. Fortunately for us he did not, and I shall welcome you to September's issue instead.
The Equinox is coming: twelve hours of day and twelve hours of night. After the 23rd - unless you happen to live in the southern hemisphere - darkness prevails and will do so for another six months.
The German Oktoberfest, oddly enough, is celebrated in September. It is entirely possible that the Oktoberfest is responsible for the presence of October Ale in the Redwall universe, as it is a two-week harvest festival of sorts celebrating the completion of the latest beer brewing.
Enjoy this month and this issue, dear Readers, and don't overdo it with the October Ale.
The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze.
-- September, by John Updike.
Ahh, September. That glorious month in which the forests of this earth explode with red and orange. The month where nights grow colder, and apple pies sit on the table, and many a youth become locked away from all this inside the classrooms.
This month we have a new feature for our magazine, and guess what - you're reading it. The Webmaster's Ramblings. I wish to use this little corner to possibly bring to your attention the arrival of a new section to our sites. The Terrouge Links. Rather, it is not a new section (as we have long had a links database), but this is a new system that has been used to provide everyone with a better collection, and quicker ability to look through and see sites. You can find out more by heading over and taking a look (see the link in the menu to the left.)
With that, I shall leave you, and let you go and read the rest of the articles that we have for you this month.
Enjoy!
