It Begins!
This month on Terrouge, we are excited to announce the opening of the fourth in the Questors Bold series – Blackened Past!
Questors Bold Four follows the same guidelines as the previous three: it is a writing competition in which ten contestants compete through nine weeks of storytelling to try for the title of Questor Most Bold. The winning contestant must survive seven votes from the audience, each of which results in the death of one of the Ten. They must then beat both of the other survivors in the last of the votes – the audience choose their favourite Questor and that contestant receives the trophy and reputation deserved for beating almost a hundred applicants into first place.
Questors Bold Four is set in the good beast colony of Mikau, a huge cave complex embedded in the south-eastern cliffs of Southsward. Mikau is a militant place, under siege from a nearby vermin settlement called Kereval. In a competition format more similar to that of the original Questors Bold, our ten contestants will each write an introductory post before The Storyteller begins the tale.
Our Questors begin in the prison camp Mikau has become, with no means of escape but through the warrior scouts of Kereval who surround the colony. The Quest begins with an execution and we must see what happens from then on. After each Questor has posted their first chapter, an earth-shattering event will trigger the Quest as we will know it – a tale of adventure, daring, comradeship and enmity.
This Questors Bold has another difference. The war between Mikau and Kereval will play out as the Quest progresses – and you, the audience, may take part. The QBIV Military Board opens today on the Terrouge Forums: many of the Top Thirty who didn’t make it as contestants have been writing there for a time now, setting the scene for enthusiastic warriors, healers, any who wish to join their side of the fight. Enlist with either side and help decide the outcome of the story – will the Questors live to see Mikau win out, or will they be forced to live under the harsh rule of Kereval’s Queen Natha? Only you can decide.
And in the deepest caves of Mikau, something waits for a mistake to be made…
