Good day, beasts and beastmistresses, and welcome to the newest addition to the Terrouge fold. Every month, in this column, I will review some aspect of Redwall news: Book releases, TV spots, merchandising, whatever. Here is where you can get the latest news, gossip, hype, etc.
Now, for our first edition, I thought it would be fitting to discuss an important issue: Redwall in the media. Those of us in Canada (and France and some parts of Africa) have been lucky enough to see the Redwall TV. The rest of the world will have to wait until at least September, but that may be soon enough for some fans. After the tension regarding the off and on purchasing plans of WETA of PBS, the Nickelodeon company (out of nowhere) has bought rights to air the program in the US. Airings will start Sept. 13, 2000, wherever the station is picked up. Airtimes, for the moment, are unknown.
Now, good news also for all you Brits out there! Channel 5 has bought the right to air the series as well. It starts on Saturday, Sept. 2, and will be aired 8 AM weekly, for 13 weeks. Trust, me, you won't want to miss it.
Of course, for those of us who've seen the first series, the anticipation of the second is a lot to bear. Fear not, you lucky group, for "Mattimeo" has been set to release this autumn. If that's not enough, series 3, "Martin the Warrior" is slated for production.
Sadly, the plans for an RW movie have been postponed. Mr. Jacques has, however, assured us that the movie will remain true to the storyline. More sad news: The plans for a Redwall CD-ROM have also been shelved.
"Build Your own Redwall"'s are still available, and selling briskly. Each set comes with a special story, involving all your favourite characters from "Redwall". As always, I'll end this column with a brief list of Release Dates, updated or added as events warrant. Be sure to read again next month!
