Questors Bold
By: Erin
After a month of preparation and anticipation, Questors Bold is finally starting! Three days ago, on the 27th, voting closed and we tallied up your votes for the authors. So, who did you pick? I know you’re dying to know, so here’s a quick rundown of how the voting went for each character. If you’d rather go right to the story, the address of the Questors Bold Website is http://redwall.vr9.com/questors. If you want to view all the semifinalists’ entries, you can still view them by going here.
The Questors:
Two of our winners had the grace and writing finesse to win multiple categories! Congratulations! Of course, they can only role-play one category, so they will be role-playing the character which they won with the largest number of votes, while the other category will go to the second place winner.
The first of these double winners(all writers are anonymous until they lose, to keep all voting strictly based on writing, not friendship) won the Female Hare and Female Weasel categories. This author’s Hare, Paloverde Roane, won with 48 votes, 14 more than the second place, Jisela. Aeria, the author’s other winner, won by only 7 votes, so the Female Weasel for our story is Belette(quite a vicious young gel!).
The other double winner took the Sea Otter and and Female Mouse categories by storm, winning by a margin of 27 and 18 votes, respectively. They’ll be playing Rue Oceanmyst in our story, a young tomboy who’s a little sick of learning only the so-called feminine pursuits. Her mouse character was Tansy Meadowsweet, so the mouse will be our second place winner, Vayala.
Lodin(the clumsy fox) and Nyctalo(the frightened fox) tied their category. Fortunately, the writer of Lodin also had another character in Questors Bold who either placed first or was a winning second (we're not telling!). Therefore, the fairest thing to do was to name Nyctalo Cruces as our male fox.
Fflewdur (Male Bat), Mortari (Squirrel Femme), Daithi (Male Ferret), and Tyerio (Male Rat) each won their categories by a healthy margin, but the Male Weasels were a different story. Stormclaw and Rafe were neck-and-neck throughout the voting process. I couldn’t have really predicted who would win at any particular point. The lead kept switching back and forth. In the last few hours of voting, Stormclaw slipped ahead to beat Rafe by a single vote.
I hope you all enjoy the story, and I’m looking forward to reading your wonderful Tourney entries!
